Flames as Water

This is a darkroom picture of a scented candle, originally lit with an ordinary flame.  I was pleased with the picture but wanted to make it pop with colour and excitement, after all, it’s a portrait of a candle.

So I did what anyone did I decided to turn the flame into a gushing fount of spraying water.

This was a lot of work in photoshop using specialist brushes and lots of layers to get a pleasing result.  It’s not entirely perfect but I’m happy with it as it’s the first attempt of anything like this.

Focal Length: 35mm, F-stop: 4.5, shutter speed: 1/80,  ISO: 200.
